NYC Reads Initiative
NYC Reads is a coalition of 11 non-profit organizations in East New York, South Jamaica and East Harlem in NYC. They offer free workshops, book give-aways, tutoring and early literacy resources in homes, schools, libraries and pediactric offices for children upto 5th grade.
As Creative Director, I led an update to their website to make it more cheerful and easy to navigate. With limited resources, my team and I gave the site a complete visual refresh by developing a graphic style that combined images with illustrations and graphic elements to create a fun visual identity.
We also built out features that made it easy for families to find the right Reads program for their child, see which book they spotlight every month from their DEI booklist. The list also provided a way for families to find books relevant to their child’s age. The site was a huge hit with the client and with the families they serve.
